MMA is a sport of controlled violence between two willing fighters, and few enjoy being part of it more than the UFC’s Laura Sanko.
Sanko is one of the UFC’s primary color commentators, and in that role she often sits very close to the octagon. She sees the damage inflicted and dealt from just inches away, can smell the stench as blood is spilled on the canvas, and everything in between that makes MMA such a raw and visceral sport.
“When I talk about MMA and everyone says, ‘Oh my God, it’s such a violent sport,'” Sanko told MMA Junkie. “I usually say it’s not really real violence. Because true violence occurs when a person doesn’t want to be there and there is a perpetrator and a victim. Correct? And that’s not it. This is a sport.” . This is competition. Both men or both women want to be there.
Violence arises from MMA competition, and there are some who deliver it with more style, swag and impact than others. But who ultimately performs best in each weight class, especially based on their work in 2024?
Sanko sat down with MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn on The Bohnfire podcast to discuss who she believes is currently the most violent fighter in each of the UFC’s 12 weight classes.
